Intenzioni comunicative - descrivere una persona fisicamente; mettere persone a confronto; parlare del carattere di una persona (describe physical characteristics; make comparisons; describe personality traits)
If you missed the lesson mercoledi' 8 maggio - here is a summary of what we covered:
- brainstormed words and phrases which can be used to describe a person's physical appearance (Espresso 2, pagina 32, esercizio 1). Special note was made of the verbs used to describe appearance: essere, avere, and portare. (See vocabulary reproduced in handout below)
- in small groups, we read Chi e' l'intruso? (Espresso 2, pagina 32, esercizio 2) and based on the descriptions, tried to work out which of the characters was the intruder (the odd man out)
- the class then split up in pairs - each pair was given the photo of a celebrity (Espresso 2, pagina 33, esercizio 3 - Il personaggio misterioso) and they had to work out answers to the questions which would be asked later by the rest of the class (see questions in second handout below). Without disclosing the identity of their 'personaggio misterioso' each pair had to answer questions from the rest of the class regarding their celebrity until somebody guessed the identity of the 'personaggio misterioso'.
- lastly: in honour of the forthcoming 'Festa della Mamma' - we listened to 'Mamma' by Pavarotti and filled in the missing lyrics (see last page of handout)
