If you missed the lesson mercoledi' 29 maggio - here is a summary of what we covered:
- we began by listening to the dialogue between Teresa and Beatrice on on pagina 38 (Espresso 2, track 9 of CD). We noticed the use of a different tense - il condizionale (the conditional tense which is used to convey the notion of would, should, could). The new form of the verb was noticed in the words: potremmo, andrebbe, lascerebbe, dormirebbe, dovrebbe. See handout below for an explanation of how to form il condizionale and when to use it.
- to practise using il condizionale we filled in the blanks in the dialogue (2nd page of handout): Example: Mi telefoneresti ogni sera? Si' ti telefonerei ogni sera! (Would you phone me each evening? Yes, I would phone you each evening.)
- Exercise 13 followed (Espresso 2, pagina 39) with a class discussion on the ideal travel companion.........Dovrebbe/Non dovrebbe (he should/shouldn't) - see class suggestions in handout below
- The class ended with a lovely 'festa' to celebrate the end of semester (thank you Rian for organising and mille grazie to all who brought delicious snacks and vino to share!)
- Finally we closed on a singing note listening to a couple of 'retro' songs.........see last 2 pages of handout
