Espresso 3 - Unita' 4 - Parole, parole, parole...
Benvenuti al secondo semestre 2015!
We began the lesson with a little warm-up exercise to revise asking and answering questions on what we had done over the holidays. See examples in attached 'Cosa hai fatto durante le vacanze?
Then we began the new unit 4 [Parole, parole, parole] by identifying what is happening in each of the photos [nouns and verbs related to means of communication] - see page 1 of second attachment.
The table in Espresso 3 pagina 43 was projected onto the board and in pairs students came up to the board and asked one another about how often they use each of the means of communication in the table: telefono, SMS, fax, e-mail, lettera, cellulare
Q: 'Con quale frequenza usi il telefono?'
A: 'Lo uso raramente.'
Note in the example above, the noun il telefono is substituted by the pronoun lo.
This was also used as an opportunity to revise the direct object pronouns: lo, la, li, le
After all the preferences had been marked in we analysed which means of communication is the most popular:
Domanda: Secondo voi, qual e' il mezzo di communicazione che si usa con piu' frequenza?
Risposta: Il mezzo di communicazione che si usa con piu' frequenza e' il cellulare!
At this point e took the opportunity to also revise the pronomi combinati - see table in Espresso 3 pagina 19 - by practising with the new vocabulary
eg: Io mando un messaggio a Marco. [we substitute messaggio [lo] and a Marco [a lui = gli]
Io glielo mando
Note what happens when changing the phrase into the passato prossimo:
Io gliel'ho mandato.
tu gliel'hai mandato
lui gliel'ha mandato
noi gliel'abbiamo mandato
voi gliel'avete mandato
loro gliel'hanno mandato
HOWEVER
if it was a lettera you were sending?
io gliel'ho mandata
Next, in pairs, we had a go at esercizio 2 pagina 43 - matching the messages to a means of communication.
For homework: see 2nd page of handout 2 below - this is revision from unit 1 - try making up new sentences using the structures learnt in unit 1 with the new vocabulary from this lesson.
