- We began revising the imperativo by watching and listening to a youTube clip http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVMj5b_ED1A (see 2nd exercise on handout below). The clip demonstrates a recipe 'il salame di cioccolato' and the first task was to complete the missing ingredients and the second task to fill in the missing verbs from the recipe (verbs appear in the infinitive below recipe and must be changed to the imperativo - in some instances, the imperative must be used with a pronoun eg: mettere (lui) = metti + lo = mettilo). In pairs, students then practised the dialogue at the bottom of the page.
- Practising the imperativo continued with the exercise (see front page of handout) where instructions to use a lavatrice (washing machine) are set out. First, the instructions had to be unjumbled, and then the underligned verbs changed to the imperativo eg: apri l'oblo' della lavatrice...A dialogue was then practised in pairs.
- A listening exercise followed (see Espresso 2 pagina 73 esercizio 12 Brunch e Tortellini) - and then the transcript (see below) was read aloud in pairs. The vero/falso exercise on pg 73 was completed as a whole-class exercise.
- The questionnaire on personal eating habits (4th exercise in handout) (Espresso 2 pagina 73 esercizio 13) was completed individually and then practised during a 'speed speaking' session
- Homework: Espresso 2 pagina 74 esercizio 1 Squisito! Task: match the comment 'Cosa dici se......' to the appropriate illustrated expression eg: "Cosa dici se nella minestra c'e' troppo sale? Accidenti, com'e' salata!"
Homework: see last exercise on handout - relates to pagina 74 esercizio 2 Dolce o salato? Task: choose three foods that have a common element eg: cosa hanno in commune le patatine, il burro, la maionese? Sono grassi. (what do chips, butter and mayonnaise have in common? Fats.) - Buon lavoro!
